Carlo Calcagni fabulous: second gold medal at World Paralympic Athletics Championships

Second triumph for Carlo Calcagni at the Paralympic Athletics World Championships underway in India: after winning the gold medal in the 400 T72, the Italian champion repeated himself in the 100 T72, setting a splendid personal best.
For Calcagni, it was his second consecutive gold medal over the 100-meter distance, following the one he won last year in Kobe, Japan: with a time of 14.80, he preceded Brazilian João Matos Marques, silver, and Britain’s Finlay Jonathan Menzies, bronze.
“Second Gold Medal! Another immense emotion, which carries with it not only the weight of the metal, but especially that of a life made of sacrifices, pain, discipline and infinite passion” said Carlo Calcagni. “This victory is not mine alone: it belongs to those who are always by my side, my family, my teammates, my technicians, my true friends and all of you who support me every day with your voice, your energy and your heart”.
“Every time I get on the track I run not only for me, but to prove that no obstacle, no illness, no difficulty can stop those who do not stop believing. Today I bring home the second world gold in this extraordinary adventure in India. And my heart is full of gratitude. Never give up, despite everything and everyone, whatever it takes”.
