6-4, 6-0 the partials in favor of the ’Italian, who had no great difficulty in getting rid of the ‘Shark’ from Mar del Plata, number 62 in the ATP ranking. Balanced, in fact, only the’beginning of the match, until 4-4: from there Musetti won eight consecutive games, four on his opponent&#8217s serve, going on to win in fluency the ’access to the next round.

Musetti appeared to have put behind him the physical problems that led to his withdrawal during the quarterfinal match of the Beijing tournament against Learner Tien, with the latter then taking advantage of another knockout, that of Daniil Medvedev, to advance to the final and meet Jannik Sinner, who ended his fairy tale with a clear-cut win in the final act.

From a results standpoint, Musetti&#8217s is having a more than decent period, especially when compared to the problems he experienced over the summer: in the last thirteen matches played, from the first round of the US Open onward, Musetti has beaten the opponent of the day ten times, surrendering only to Sinner in the quarters at Flushing Meadows, Tabilo in the final at Chengdu, and Tien (but especially to injury) in Beijing.
