World Cup qualifiers 2026: Belgium-Northern Macedonia, the likely lineups

Friday night, at 8:45 p.m., the Planet Group Arena in Ghent will be the scene of a crucial challenge in Group J of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Belgium, currently second in the standings, hosts leading North Macedonia, which, however, has played an extra match. At stake is the top spot in the group and, with it, direct access to the rainbow event in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Rudi Garcia will have to do without Romelu Lukaku and, to lead the Red Devils’ attack, he is ready to bet on Loïs Openda (Juventus). Behind him will act an offensive trio of great quality composed of Doku, De Bruyne (Napoli) and Trossard.
On the other side, Macedonian coach Milevski is expected to field a 4-man midfield with Churlinov, Alimi, Bardhi and Elmas (Napoli). Up front, space for the offensive pair of Miovski and Trajkovski.
Probable lineups
Belgium (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Castagne, Debaste, Theate, De Cuyper; Vanaken, Raskin; Doku, De Bruyne, Trossard; Openda. Coach: Garcia.
Northern Macedonia (4-4-2): Dimitrievski; Ilievski, Stojcevski, Zajkov, Alioski; Churlinov, Alimi, Bardhi, Elmas; Miovski, Trajkovski. Coach: Milevski.
