Virtus Bologna takes big risk but expels Udine: the'admission of Dusko Ivanovic

Even thanks to a resounding partial (25-12) in the fourth period of the game, newly promoted Udine risked a big hit against reigning Italian champions Virtus Bologna in Saturday night’s game valid for the second round of the Serie A championship: 72-72 at the end of regulation, with the Vu Nere regaining the lead only in the final overtime and winning 82-80. 27 points for Edwards, Udine, on the other hand, didn’t need 23 from Brewton.
Virtus coach Dusko Ivanovic admits the difficulties of the evening: “Today’s was a tough game – he said -. We decided it in the last actions. For most of the match we managed to stay in control of the game, until we lost those two-three balls with five minutes to go. We got lucky with the last possessions, but in the end what matters is the win”.
“Even more important – added the Montenegrin coach – was the character we showed at the team level and the knowledge that little by little we were able to improve defensively. There are details to be put in place, but we take home the mentality and the final character. Concern about lost balls? No one loses the ball voluntarily: these situations happen and are part of the game”.
“For other teams to lose those two or three balls is a help, but what matters right now is to think positive for the team, leaving the negative aspects to another time– continued Ivanovic. “Udine is a very good team that offered a good game, standing out today for character. Virtus was built to face this kind of schedule and to play every other day, so fatigue cannot be an excuse for our performance”.
