Andrea Mandorlini closes his third stint at CFR Cluj

The third parenthesis at CFR Cluj of Andrea Mandorlini, who was recalled at the end of August by the Transylvanian club but exonerated after eight matches and a balance of two victories (one in the Conference League qualifiers and the other in the league), five draws and one defeat, the one on Monday against Petrolul, which in fact cost him his bench, has officially ended.
“CFR 1907 Cluj and coach Andrea Mandorlini have discontinued their collaboration – reads the club’s official channels -The preparation of the team will be entrusted to our assistant coaches, Laurentiu Rus and Ovidiu Hoban. We thank Mister Mandorlini for his work at CFR Cluj in his three terms as coach of our team and wish him great success for the future”.
Mandorlini’s first experience at CFR Cluj dates back to the 2009-2010 season, when the 1960-born coach won the Romanian Championship, Cup and National Super Cup. His subsequent experiences were less fortunate: before this last interlude, already in 2023-2024 Mandorlini was exonerated, after 22 matches, replaced on that occasion by Adrian Mutu.
Originally from Ravenna and raised in the local team, Andrea Mandorlini also wore as a player the jerseys of Torino, Atalanta, Ascoli, Inter and Udinese, winning with the Nerazzurri the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup in 1989 and the Uefa Cup in 1991. As a coach he has led Manzanese, Triestina, Spezia, Vicenza, Atalanta, Bologna, Padova (in two different periods), Siena, Sassuolo, CFR Cluj (in three different periods), Hellas Verona, Genoa, Cremonese and Mantova.
