San Marino, comes a postage stamp extolling the national team

Poste San Marino, in collaboration with the Federazione Sammarinese Giuoco Calcio (FSGC), celebrates the San Marino National Football Team, with the issuance of a commemorative stamp belonging to the “Sport” postal series, a thematic strand that combines the San Marino philatelic tradition with the universal values of sport.
The project born from the synergy between Poste San Marino and FSGC celebrates the memorable success of November 18, 2024, when the San Marino national team won a historic victory in Group D of the UEFA Nations League, securing promotion to Group C and writing an unforgettable page in the country’s sports history. An achievement that sparked enthusiasm and recognition both nationally and internationally.
The stamp depicts the team’s official jersey on a blue background and is issued in a limited edition of 25,000 copies, each worth 4.95 euros. For the first time in San Marino’s philatelic history, flocked adhesive paper was used, an innovative substrate that offers collectors a unique product.
“With this issue, Poste San Marino would like to pay tribute to the National Team and, at the same time, confirm its desire to combine sporting passion with philatelic tradition, enhancing the universal meaning of sport, capable of uniting generations and communities – said Poste San Marino General Manager Gian Luca Amici. This jersey continues to represent something greater than the sports score: it is the sign of those who do not stop believing, of those who take the field to honor a dream, of those who play for the love of their land”.
!We are honored by the words of the San Marino Post Office management and by the decision to pay homage to our national team with the issuance of a stamp and a cancellation celebrating the promotion to the UEFA Nations League C League exactly one year later – commented Luigi Zafferani, secretary general of the FSGC -. The San Marino philatelic and numismatic tradition is recognized as absolute excellence within and beyond the San Marino borders, so we can only be proud of the first issue dedicated to the San Marino national team. Moreover, this unprecedented collaboration could represent only the first of a series of philatelic products dedicated to football activity in the territory. Finally, I would like to think that the unique and unprecedented format of this issue may capture not only the attention of collectors and long-time fans, but recalling in part the stickers with which so many of us began to know and love soccer may bring many more people closer to the San Marino National Team”.
