“It’s stronger than me. I…m cheering Sinner…”: this was the surprise message posted on X by Bruno Vespa, who sided with the’South Tyrolean during the Atp Finals.

The journalist and host of Porta a Porta, while the former world number 1 was on court against Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the match later won by the Blue in two sets, made a reversal.

Bruno Vespa following Jannik Sinner’s decision not to participate in the Davis Cup Final Eight had written: “Why should an Italian root for him? He speaks German (as is natural, being his native language), lives in Monte Carlo and does not want to play for the national team”.

A comment complemented by an error that went viral: “Honor to Alvarez who plays the Davis Cup with his Spain,” clearly confusing Alcaraz with “Alvarez”.
