Lorenzo Sonego falls on debut in Florence

He imagined a decidedly different debut for Lorenzo Sonego in the ATP 250 in Florence, in front of a crowd entirely lined up for him, also in view of a possible second-round derby with compatriot Lorenzo Musetti. The Piedmontese tennis player, however, had to yield to Spaniard Bernabe Zapata-Miralles, number 74 in the ATP rankings, who overcame him in two sets with a score of 6-4 6-4

The Italian tennis player immediately got off to a bad start, giving up the serve and the break immediately proved fatal: the Spaniard kept it until the end of the first set, which he cashed in with a score of 6-4. In the second partial the same script: Sonego loses serve in the opening and even goes down by another break, finding himself 1-4. From here Lorenzo tries the comeback but the distance is now too wide: same score and 6-4 final in favor of the Iberian tennis player.

Sonego thus has to say goodbye to the tournament in Florence, while Zapata will face precisely Lorenzo Musetti, the number three seed on the scoreboard.
