Just in the same hours when Germany led on the pitch by Alexander Zverev was playing for access to the final with Spain in the Davis Cup, Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich drew inspiration from the racquet champions by winning its “set” 6-2 against Freiburg: a success, by the way, that came in a comeback since the Bavarians were down by two goals after less than twenty minutes.

Freiburg had in fact taken the lead at 12′ with Suzuki, doubling it at 17′ with Manzambi. From there, then, the Bayern monologue with goals on 22′ by Karl, on 47′ of the first half by Olise, on 55′ by Upamecano, on 60′ by Kane, on 78′ by Jackson and on 84’84’ by Olise again. At 2-2, also, a goal had been disallowed for offside to Karl.

Bayern Munich’s determined march to the top of the Bundesliga standings continues in this way: 31 points have been collected in eleven matches by the Bavarians, who stumbled only once at home to Union Berlin (2-2 the final result) in the face of no less than ten victories. The defending German champion team also has the best offense, with 41 goals scored, and the best defense, with eight goals conceded.

The historic rivals are already chasing at a distance: Bayer Leverkusen has collected 23 points in 11 games, Borussia Dortmund one less. The Aspirins, on Saturday, defeated Wolfsburg at home 3-1 (Hofmann, Tapsoba and Tillman scored), while the yellow-and-whites drew 3-3 against Stuttgart by a wild Undav, who scored a hat-trick, responding with goals by Emre Can, Beier and Adeyemi.
