F1 Ferrari: stop development, run out of budget
Ferrari will no longer develop the single-seater in the last four Grand Prix of the year
The new modified bottom brought to Japan will be Ferrari’s last technical development this season. Maranello team principal Mattia Binotto confirmed that the team has spent all its budget in 2022, and that Ferrari will now focus only on next year’s single-seater: “The bottom represents the last development this season,” the words reported by Motorsport.
No new developments will therefore come in the last four Grands Prix of the year, which will in any case see Ferrari still fighting for second place in the drivers’ and constructors’ standings. The new bottom, arranged to limit tire decay, was difficult to assess in Japan because of the rain, but in the coming races its effect will be felt more, engineers assure.
In any case, there remains the problem of the tires, which wear out faster than on the single-seaters of other rivals-a decisive factor that will be studied in the coming weeks and months.
