The champion was discharged on Sunday, and now she counts on being back available to the coach for the start of the European Championships

Bonmatí, who had had another health problem last summer facing a form of viral meningitis, underwent a’surgery with a positive outcome and turned to her fans via social to tell of her state of mind: “This is the other side of sports – she wrote -Today I have to start a new challenge off the playing fields: recovering from the fractured fibula I suffered on Sunday. The operation went well, now it’s time to regenerate physically and mentally. Elite soccer, on the other hand, takes you to the limit in all aspects, and there were factors that, at the moment, prevented me from enjoying the profession and everyday life. Honestly, I felt it was a time to pull the brakes and I had thought about it, but I didn&#8217t do it and life stopped me short. On the strength of this lesson I face what is to come, confident that I will learn great lessons”.

“I want to thank the doctors and medical staff at Barcelona Hospital, as well as all the people who are giving me support. I will be back soon” then promised Aitana Bonmatí, who this season was aiming to regain success in the Women’s Champions League, which eluded Barça last year after two consecutive triumphs. The first match Aitana was forced to miss, however, was no less important: Spain, in fact, had to play without her in the Nations League return final against Germany, scheduled for Tuesday night with the Red Furies committed to defending the trophy they won in 2024.

In the first ever of the competition, Spain had beaten France 2-0 in the single final, with Bonmatí on the field for ninety minutes and scoring the first of the two goals.
