Lazio, press silence triggers after protest statement

Lazio furious after the Udine draw. At the center of the protests is Davis’ goal, which prompted the biancoceleste club to go into a press silence, not before, however, issuing a statement: “With respect to the work and commitment of the refereeing class, we continue to record with growing bitterness a series of errors always against us, repeated and difficult to understand. S.S. Lazio asks for respect, uniformity of judgment and more attention” reads the official note issued via social.
And again: “Episodes that are clearly affecting the work of the team and the fairness of the competition, generating significant economic damage to the Club and deeply damaging the passion, commitment and sacrifices of a fan base that supports these colors, in every stadium and in every context”. Davis himself in the post-match at the microphones of Dazn commented on the’incident: “Did I touch with my hand before the goal? I don’t really remember, it all happened very quickly. I definitely touched it with the outside and then maybe it landed on my hand, but it was all very quick.”
From the DAZN studios, Luca Marelli, a former match director called upon to comment on these cases on the broadcaster, also spoke about this episode in the post-match: “We have to start from the rules, which on page 90 says that the goal cannot be scored if just beforehand the ball was touched with an arm or a hand. Palma’s touch is not punishable; the arm is along the body. Nearly 9 seconds pass, however, since Zaniolo kicks, catches Davis’s right arm and the striker then takes the ball to his left and scores”.
Luca Marelli also recalled a precedent that occurred under similar circumstances: “In this league, we have seen a similar episode and that is Meister’s in Pisa-Fiorentina. Does only the passage of time change? If the’immediacy is defined only by the seconds, then we need to regulate in this sense”.
“At the level of regulation there’is a hole, given the touch with the arm even if totally accidental and given the seconds that passed between that touch and the winning shot” concluded his analysis Marelli. In Rome, however, they will continue to discuss the failed Biancoceleste victory, waiting for Maurizio Sarri to return to talk about it after the press silence is over.
