Mile Svilar remains the center of attention thanks to a series of convincing performances, confirmed even on the European stage. A performance that does not go unnoticed and has ignited the interest of clubs even beyond national borders. Already last summer his profile was evaluated by Manchester City, before the ambitious English club decided to bet on Gianluigi Donnarumma, now too many at Paris Saint Germain, despite having won the Champions League as a star player between the posts of Luis Enrique’s team.

Today Svilar continues to be closely followed by Bayern Munich and several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Tottenham, which could leave Guglielmo Vicario in high demand in Italy, and Bournemouth. It is precisely at the Dorset club that Tiago Pinto, son of former Portugal bomber Joao, who knows Svilar from his days at Benfica and then wanted him at Roma, is at work.

Despite the numerous attentions, at the moment Svilar is not considering leaving the capital. The renewal signed last summer was experienced as the start of a new professional chapter. The possibility of giving up a fullback of this level has never really been considered by Gian Piero Gasperini, who has always spoken words of high esteem for him.

Svilar was born in Antwerp, Belgium, on August 27, 1999, and is 189 centimeters tall. He is the son of Ratko Svilar, also a goalkeeper, who has linked much of his career to Antwerp, first as a footballer for about fifteen years starting in 1980 and later as a coach.

Svilar’s career as a goalkeeper has been a long one.

Mile’s soccer career began in Belgium itself, following in his father’s footsteps and choosing the role of goalkeeper early on. At the age of fourteen, he entered the youth sector of Anderlecht, where he quickly rose to prominence until he earned a call-up to Belgium’s youth selections, accompanying them all the way from the Under 15 to the Under 21. However, when the opportunity to wear the jersey of the senior national team presented itself, he decided to represent Serbia, the country of his origins, with which he made his debut in August 2021.

With Anderlecht, his first-team debut will never come. In fact, his professional debut came in Portugal, wearing the Benfica shirt. On October 14, 2017, Svilar took the field as a starter in the Portuguese Cup against Olhanense, in a match won 1-0.
