Jannik Sinner returns to the semifinals at the Australian Open. The world and seeded number two beats Ben Shelton, number 7 in the ATP rankings and number 8 in the seedings, for the ninth consecutive time in three sets, with a final score of 6-3 6-4 6-4 after just over two and a half hours of play.

For the South Tyrolean champion, this is his third consecutive semifinal in Melbourne, his ninth in a Grand Slam tournament: he will face Novak Djokovic, who benefited from the very unfortunate withdrawal of Lorenzo Musetti, who was forced to raise the white flag in a two-set lead.

“It&#8220s always tough to play with Ben, he has an incredible serve–said the defending champion in Melbourne, in the end-of-match interview with Jim Courier -’and he gets better every year. I am very happy with my performance”.

The U.S. pointed out to him that his compatriot has repeatedly exceeded 220 mph on serve, and the South Tyrolean replied with irony: “I am not very strong in math – he remarked – but I know how complicated it is to answer him: he is left-handed and his second serves are tricky as well. I think I found the solution” though.
