MotoGp, Ducati: Pecco Bagnaia doesn’t feel the pressure
Bagnaia is quiet ahead of the Malaysian Grand Prix
Pecco Bagnaia appeared very calm in view of the Malaysian Grand Prix where he could become world champion should he manage to bring himself within 25 points of Fabio Quartararo, who was overtaken in the world standings after the Australian GP. It was in Sepang that the Turin-based rider celebrated his Moto2 world success and hopes to repeat, this time for a far more prestigious title, that of world champion in the premier class.
The Piedmontese centaur spoke this way ahead of Sepang: “I am happy to be back racing in Malaysia. Compared to Phillip Island, where we were last week, the temperatures here will be much higher and, with this tropical weather, it is also difficult to predict whether the race will be dry or wet. In any case, I’m calm: in Australia, where we struggled more than at other tracks, we fought for victory, while Sepang is on paper a slightly ‘friendlier’ track, so there are all the prerequisites to be able to do well.”
“Now we are first in the championship and we have to stay focused more than ever. However, the approach does not change: we have to think about doing our job well, as always, to try to arrive ready for Sunday’s race,” Bagnaia concluded.
Francesco, aka ‘Pecco,’ Bagnaia after winning the Moto2 world championship in 2018 with Sky Racing Team VR46, will make his MotoGpin debut in 2019 riding the Ducati of Team Pramac Racing. In September 2020, he scored his first podium in the top MotoGP category at Misano.
The following year he switched to the official Ducati team and finished the championship in second place, behind the French Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo.
