Brindisi wins, but Frank Vitucci demands much more
A heart-stopping victory, and in the aftermath of the game there is also room for self-criticism.
Brindisi wins again in the Europe Cup, bringing its roster to 2-1 after beating the Estonians of Kalev/Cramo at PalaPentassuglia. The 88-86 final, however, helps to understand the breathlessness with which Happy Casa ended the game, and Frank Vitucci’s words confirm it.
“Tonight, to reinvigorate our chances of passing the round, it was essential to win. We did it, facing a good team that capitalized on our every mistake. But we certainly didn’t have to come in and play it to the last ball,” Vitucci admitted.
“In the last three minutes we thwarted our entire lead,” added the Brindisi coach. “We need to find our maturity faster, and be more careful. Today we shot 14 times more than them, but without being able to be effective in the final. These are situations that we will analyze better from now on.”
