Monza, Serie A hit with Palermo. Venezia held back by Sampdoria

Great excitement in Saturday’s Serie B matches. Everything happens at the Manuzzi between Cesena and Frosinone: four goals, three woods, a missed penalty and another one first awarded and then revoked by the Var. Alvini’s team tries twice to escape with Corrado and Ghedjemis, but Cesena does not give up and comes back dragged by the double of a wild Corazza. It ends 2-2. However, the comeback, however spectacular, is not enough to save Mignani’s bench: at the end of the match, dg Di Taranto announces the coach’s exoneration.
Monza takes advantage of the very misstep of the Ciociari and goes back to stretching in the standings. At the U-Power Stadium, Bianco’s team easily overcomes Palermo: Petagna immediately unlocks the match by signing his seventh goal of the season. In the second half Ciurria doubled (who had not scored in over a year, since January 13, 2025) and in the final Colombo closed the score on 3-0. The Biancorossi regained success after the stop with Spezia and remain just one point behind Venezia, stopped at 0-0 in Marassi. Good first for Lombardo on the Sampdoria bench: heart, grit and a solid defensive phase allow the blucerchiati to momentarily exit the playout zone. Instead, Palermo stops after two consecutive victories: the Rosanero remain fourth at 57.
On the other fields, Catanzaro passes without too many problems at the Euganeo against Padova: Alesi and Iemmello’s double decide, while for the hosts only Di Maggio scores in the final. For Andreoletti’s team it is the second ko in a row after the one with Avellino. Juve Stabia does not go beyond a 1-1 draw at the Menti against Carrarese: Mosti put the guests ahead, Torregrossa answered on a penalty kick and found the goal again after 11 months (the last had come on April 25). Abate’s lineup, seventh with 41 points, has been winless for a month.
Positive debut for Caserta on Empoli’s bench: at Castellani, the Tuscans remounted Mantova from 0-2 to 2-2. Important reaction also for Bari, which, after a week of retreat, overwhelms Reggiana 4-1 in the salvation clash at the San Nicola and rises to 31 points, in the playout zone. Sunday closes the 30th round with the last two challenges: Entella-Avellino and Sudtirol-Pescara.
