Paris-Bercy, Lorenzo Musetti a dream: beats Casper Ruud and flies to the quarterfinals
A super Musetti flies to the quarterfinals
Lorenzo Musetti flies to the quarterfinals at the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000. This is the first time he has reached the quarters in a Masters 1000 and he did so by overcoming the world number 4 in a comeback with a score of 4-6 6-4 6-4.
In the first set the first to have break chances is the Italian but once they are wasted, down 4-5 40-15, he melts on the most beautiful and with four consecutive points the Norwegian cashes the first set. But Musetti’s reaction was not long in coming and in the second partial under 3-4 the class of 2002 strung together three consecutive games taking the match to the third set. Here Musetti seems more on the ball and confident than his opponent and in fact he wins the decisive break in the fifth game and keeps it until the final 6-4, closing with a service round where he leaves his opponent at zero.
Musetti thus advances to the quarterfinals where he awaits the winner between Novak Djokovic and Karen Khachanov.
