IndyCar, colossal mess between Chip Ganassi Racing and Alex Palou
Spaniard responds by making McLaren contract official
The “Palou case” has broken out. All in a matter of hours. Chip Galassi Racing opens the dances, announcing the renewal, for the 2023 season, of the Spanish champion. There are also statements from Palou: “It’s a great feeling to know that I will be back with Chip Ganassi Racing next season.”
Everyone happy? Not at all. Soon after comes, via social media, Palou’s own denial, attacking his team: “I recently learned from the media that, without my approval, Chip Ganassi Racing issued a press release announcing that I would be racing with them in 2023. Even more surprising was the fact that the CGR release included words that were not mine.” This was followed by McLaren making the agreement with Palou himself official with statements from the driver attached (“I am extremely excited to join the driver roster of such an iconic team as McLaren.”). Quite a mess.
