Lando Norris sets deadline for McLaren
The words of Lando Norris
Lando Norris, already able to stand on the podium this year, the only one besides the Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes drivers, is beginning to paw the ground.
“I didn’t renew my contract with McLaren with the idea of winning right away. I knew it would take a few years: 2024 or 2025 will be the first time when there will be fewer and fewer excuses to justify certain results. I think it will take a couple of years, then I think the situation will stabilize. Now we have a better car, it’s just the first year of a new era.”
“Fortunately, I’ve always been used to winning races and fighting for championships. I came to Formula 1 and it was the opposite. I almost had to learn not to win. We started the year in a position far behind where we should have been. Because of that we had to catch up in big steps. For this year we deluded ourselves and at the beginning of the season it was very frustrating, but when you get a podium then you understand that there is still hope. However, I know that winning a few races is not a goal I give myself for this year, but for the following years,” he concluded to RaceFans.
