Italvolley gets off on the right foot: 3-0 to Canada in world debut
25-13, 25-18 and 39-37 were the partials in favor of Italy.
Victory it had to be, and victory it was. The Italian national volleyball team got off on the right foot at the World Cup in Poland and Slovenia by beating Canada in three sets in Ljubljana: 25-13, 25-18 and 39-37 the partials in favor of the Azzurri.
Coach Ferdinando De Giorgi’s boys immediately got off on the right foot by stifling the North Americans’ ambitions by cashing in the first fraction with speed. The script was repeated, with few differences, in the second set, closed in fluency on 25-18. In the third partial, which seemed endless, comes a few too many errors, allowing Canada to stay in the match. However, the concentration and cold blood shown by the Azzurri in playing the decisive points made the difference. To be noted the splendid performances of Simone Giannelli and setter Daniele Lavia.
Next appointment against Turkey on Monday, August 29 at 9:15 pm.
