Bad surprise for Italy
Croatia’s 90-85 victory over Ukraine confirms fourth place for the Italian national team. Coach Pozzecco’s boys have to hope at this point that Serbia loses to Poland, so as not to cross paths with the Nikola Jokic-led battleship.
Italbasket will play tonight at the Forum of Assago against Great Britain, a game that now counts only for statistics and whose result will be irrelevant for the group standings.
Italy has already beaten Serbia in the pre-Olympic tournament valid for qualification for Tokyo 2020, and is likely to face them in the round of 16, scheduled for Berlin.
