Virtus Bologna, for Sergio Scariolo and Andrea Diana the win is worth double
A victory worth double, as admitted at the end of the game.
Virtus Bologna wins a very complicated semifinal and advances to the last act of the Supercoppa (it will face Dinamo Sassari) after a 72-64 overtime win over Olimpia Milano. And both Sergio Scariolo and Andrea Diana praise the team while also identifying the difficulties faced and overcome on the night in Brescia.
“It had been 30 years since I had returned to the gym where I started playing,” Scariolo stressed. “Being here is nice, but I’ll stop right now because I want to give the floor to my coaching staff. In these weeks the team has been guided in an excellent way, and we recognize with balance their great work. This victory rewards all of them.”
Also from Andrea Diana, moreover, came words of high praise for Scariolo: “I thank Sergio, who despite his commitments at Eurobasket has always guaranteed us his support. It was like that every day.” Then, the analysis on the game: “It was very hard, but the satisfaction is great. We had to win twice, and we did it in overtime with lucidity and attention. Among the keys was the way we gave battle in rebounding.”
Diana then also dwelt on Virtus Bologna’s individuals: “Because of absences we had to exploit Ojeleye only from 4, but we aim to use him also from 3. He needs break-in, because he has just arrived. But, together with others, he has already made a great contribution to equalize the physical impact of Milan. We will see tomorrow, when we face an already broken-in Sassari. Great attention will be needed.”
