Max Allegri’s new jewels still can’t believe it
“I was at home, didn’t expect it and didn’t even realize it,” said the former Cremonese
They have patiently waited for their moment and, also aided by some injuries in the Bianconeri midfield, little by little they have deservedly earned the trust of Massimiliano Allegri, who has often and willingly deployed them as starters in the Old Lady’s latest league outings. We are talking about Nicolò Fagioli and Fabio Miretti, the new jewels summoned to the senior national team by Roberto Mancini.
Often the subject of market rumors that would have wanted them destined for loan – especially Fagioli, already back from a fruitful experience in the cadetteria with Cremonese – the two talents have also won the internal generational competition, represented by that Nicolò Rovella who is doing so well at Monza, where he was ‘diverted’ on a temporary basis in the last stages of the summer market.
“How did I hear about the call? I was at home, I didn’t expect it and I didn’t even realize it because I was sleeping,” Fagioli said candidly. “I didn’t know what time the summonses came out, then a lot of messages started coming in and I woke up. Today we met our teammates, it was all exciting, fun, and now, happy, we enjoy the moment,” he told official FIGC channels.
He is echoed by his department colleague, Miretti: ” When you play in the Italy Under 20 and 21 you start hoping to play in the senior national team. I would like to look like Claudio Marchisio, because of the path he took. Among other things, he awarded me a few days ago at the Golden Boy: it was an honor, he is a reference point for young people.”
