Sampdoria, Massimo Ferrero is working to return
“I am working to come back and try to save the society.”
Grappling with a crisis of play and results that has plunged the team to second-last place in the standings (with only 6 points in 15 games, and already -7 from fourth-last Spezia), Sampdoria ended 2022 with many anxieties and worries. Despite the change in the bench – Marco Giampaolo was succeeded by Dejan Stankovic – the situation has not improved at all. The square murmurs, and meanwhile an ‘old’ acquaintance of the Ligurian club appears on the horizon.
Massimo Ferrero, the Roman businessman formerly president of the Blucerchiata club from June 2014 until December 2021, when his resignation arrived following judicial investigations, is reportedly making a comeback for a resounding re-entry into the club. Ferrero himself admitted this in an interview with the microphones of ‘Il Secolo XIX’.
“The situation of Sampdoria makes me suffer a lot. I cannot, I cannot remain helpless. I have always had confidence in Marco Lanna, so much so that I put him in my place, that of president, knowing also that he was a figure much liked by the Blucerchiata fans,” he began.
“I am working toward my own return to Samp because my goal is to try to bring it back to a safe harbor. The truth is that my family owns the Blucerchiata club and so in that capacity I have always continued, continue and will continue to be interested in the fate of the team because it represents nine years of my life,” he continued.
“I ask for a truce from the fans, I apologize to those who felt offended, I am aware that I made mistakes. Let us guarantee Sampdoria a future that is up to par and I give you my word that when it is in a safe haven I will disappear,” Ferrero concluded
