Federico Pellegrino ready for the Tour de Ski
Federico Pellegrino’s words
Federico Pellegrino faces the toils of the Tour de Ski for the 12th time, kicking off Saturday, Dec. 31, from Val Mustair with a sprint in free technique. The Swiss slope, located just a few hundred meters from the border with South Tyrol, evokes fond memories for the Valle d’Aosta native, who boasts in the beloved specialty two victories in 2015 and 2021 and a second place in 2016.
“We found a beautiful slope,” he says after the finishing training, “well prepared and wide, with a critical point in the downhill, a kind of challenging ‘esse.’ I’ve always felt good here, the feeling is good and the head clear, I’m ready to fight. The track is at an altitude of 1,800 meters but it is not a problem, it is only an element to manage. As for ranking ambitions, I say that the Tour de Ski is approached stage by stage. With such a calendar, there are some races that suit me, although I cannot honestly say what my level may be overall in terms of the overall ranking. I will definitely give my best to get as far ahead as possible, aiming straight for Cermis.”
