Green light from Wengen where the men’s speed races–a downhill and a superg–and a slalom, valid for the World Cup, will be held the weekend of Jan. 13-15.
In fact, the inspection carried out by the International Federation on the Swiss track has given the green light for the three-day competition to be held regularly, which will take place the week after the technical races on the track in Adelboden, also in Switzerland.
It is Austria’s Marcel Hirscher who holds the record for the most victories in the overall Ski World Cup standings: he has bagged as many as eight. In second place, with five, is Marc Girardelli, who chose to race in the colors of Luxembourg. Third place for a trio of aces: in fact, with four successes are our Gustav Thoeni, Switzerland’s Pirmin Zurbriggen and Austria’s Hermann Maier. At three is the phenomenal Swede Ingemar Stenmark and the American Phil Mahre.
