Davide Nicola’s dismissal from his post as Salernitana coach has come just days before the Campania derby against Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli, fresh off a 5-1 win over Juventus. The choice of the now former coach’s replacement, however, may not be immediate, so the Granata club is considering solutions ahead of Saturday’s game on January 21, the last of the first half of the season.

The latest hypothesis has the resounding: in fact, according to a report by ‘Il Corriere del Mezzogiorno,’ Franck Ribery, who is rehabilitating after knee surgery, could be on the bench of President Iervolino’s club in the unprecedented role of coach.

The other possibility is the return of Stefano Colantuno, who was exonerated in February 2022 and replaced precisely by Davide Nicola, who then guided Salernitana to an unhoped-for salvation.
