NBA, LeBron James no-nonsense about retirement
NBA, LeBron James provides clarity on future
During the ESPYs award ceremony for the best performance to break a record, LeBron James wanted to provide clarity on his future, after statements made following the loss to the Denver Nuggets in the Conference Finals that had left open the chink of a possible retirement by the “King.”
“When the season ended, I said I wasn’t sure if I would continue playing. And at that moment I was wondering if I could continue without disrespecting the game. Can I still give everything I have to the game ? The truth is that I’ve been asking myself that question at the end of every season for a couple of years, I just never said it outright until now,” began Los Angeles Lakers number 6.
“It doesn’t matter how many points I score or what I can or cannot do on the court. The real question for me is always: can I still play without disrespecting the sport ? The day I can no longer give it my all will be the moment I am finished. Fortunately for you, that day has not yet come,” added the best scorer in NBA history.
“In my 20-year career I have never disrespected the game and I will never take it for granted. Every time I take the court I want to give everything. I do it for myself, for my teammates, for all the greats of the sport who have come before me and for the fans. I still have a lot to give, so I appreciate all of you and thank you for being with me along this path so far,” LeBron James concluded.
Number 6 yellowviolet is about to embark on his 21st season as a professional NBA player.
