Virtus easy with Varese, Banks: "Important to react"

Virtus Bologna coach Luca Banchi commented with satisfaction on his team’s wide 115-84 victory over Varese.

"It's a game that è developed according to the expected rhythms.  They are a very peculiar opponent that deploys atypical quintets with even five outside players. Their pace è a trap because it pushes you to run excessively and at times I had to preach calmness. We played with an under-size quintet compared to our habits, but I am happy because we played good basketball with some consistency that è the goal we want to achieve, whether we play in the league or in the Euroleague, even when we have little time to train", Banchi explained.

"Marco was able to lead all his teammates. After the breaks we suffered against Kaunas it was important to react tonight. The applause for Lundberg I think shows once again the bond that is created between this environment and its players. I don’t know what happened in the past, he is regaining serenity and together with the company; we are recreating new balances knowing that he was not initially part of the team";

"We take this victory, Iffe’s debut, but let’s remember that we are just at the beginning, let’s not fly too far. The absence of Smith è was a technical choice, while instead Toko è never managed to train after the game against Zalgiris so we kept him rested. I hope that on Tuesday he will be able to be reintegrated into the group". concluded the Black Vu coach.
