Alvaro Recoba new coach of Nacional Montevideo

Former Inter Milan and Venezia player Alvaro Recoba, è the new coach of Nacional Montevideo. This was announced by the club in the Uruguayan capital.

The “Chino”, who used to coach in “Tercera Division” the Montevideo club’s second team, takes the place of Alvaro Gutierrez, who was exonerated after the defeat (2-0) against Boston River in the 6thª day match of the league.

A man-symbol of Nacional, who retired from playing soccer in 2015 after winning the championship, in the past the 47-year-old Recoba è was also assistant coach to three first team coaches, namely Alejandro Cappuccio, Martín Liguera and Jorge Giordano. Instead, at the helm of the second team, he won the 2022 Apertura tournament.

He will now make his debut in his new assignment next Monday, Oct. 23, in the match in which Nacional will receive a visit from Deportivo Maldonado. As assistant coach Recoba will have another former 'Italian', that Nelson Abeijon who played, as a midfielder, for Cagliari, Como and Atalanta.
