Marco Odermatt’s triumph in Wengen, Florian Schieder and Dominik Paris in top 5

After his triumph in Adelboden, Marco Odermatt also took the downhill in Wengen, finally managing to break the tabù of winning this World Cup specialty for the first time in his career. The Swiss skier achieved a time of 1:43.32, ahead of France’s Cyprien Sarrazin and Norway’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. Completing the top 5 were the two Italians Florian Schieder and Dominik Paris. 

Sixth position for American Ryan Cochran-Siegle, while completing the top 10: Italy&#39s Mattia Casse, Austria&#39s Otmar Striedinger, France&#39s Alexis Pinturault and Switzerland&#39s Justin Murisier.

For Marco Odermatt this is the sixth victory in thirteen races held. The triumph on his home snows, in addition, allowed him to consolidate his red bib as leader of the downhill standings, in which he leads with 276 points to Sarrazin’s 230 and Kilde’s 220. In the overall standings, on the other hand, the Helvetic's lead is much sharper, with the 1997 class having already broken through the 800-point mark.
