The coach of the reigning European champions raises.

Luciano Spalletti wants an Italy that will honor the upcoming European Championships not only as reigning champions, but as favorites with every intention of trying to confirm and put any opponent in trouble. To achieve this goal, the technical commissioner has already wanted to call out those who were there in 2021 at Wembley and now will have to set an example for their younger teammates.

"Those who won the last European Championship are us. So we cannot back down,” Spalletti recalled in a telephone connection with the Maestrelli Award. “We have the responsibility to try to do the best, and we will not shirk. Some of my players among others were there, and I want them to transfer to the rest of the group mentalityà and behaviors to be adopted in a competition of this importance".

" We have to get ourselves used to playing competitions every two years again. Italy must take part in all World Cups and all European Championships. And it must do so in the best possible way, aiming to always collect the maximum. Starting with Euro 2024, where we will not be able to spare a single meter of running. We will have to give everything we have during the tournament", Spalletti concluded.
