Six Azzurri have been summoned by dt Max Carca for Sunday’s slalom on Kitzbuehel’s Ganslern. They are Tommaso Sala, Alex Vinatzer, Stefano Gross, Tobias Kastlunger, Simon Maurberger and Corrado Barbera.
The’last Italian victory on the Ganslern was in 2012, when Cristian Deville, a Fassano doc, dominated the race, to the greatest success of his career. The’last podium finish in chronological order, however, was due to Patrick Thaler, in ’14.
In total, there have been four Italian slalom victories on the emblazoned Austrian Tyrol slope: the first with Piero Gros in 1975, then Alberto Tomba twice, in 1992 and 1995, then Deville.
The first run è scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and the second for 1:30 p.m.
