Golf, Matteo Manassero returns to winning ways after 11 years!
Matteo Manassero savors victory again. The Italian golfer won the Jonsson Open in South Africa, breaking a very long 11-year fast: he had not achieved success on the men’s top European circuit since 2013. The 30-year-old from Veneto è won with a total of 262 strokes, 26 under par.
In Edenvale, near Johannesburg, Manassero è put himself behind a trio of Thriston Lawrence, Shaun Norris and Jordan Smith. The Venetian golfer, now 30 years old, thus achieved his fifth career success on the European circuit.
"The best day of my life on a golf course. Now I want to enjoy these emotions", are the words reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. A former enfant prodige of Italian golf, Manassero had won his first European title at the age of 17: a record that has è not yet been broken.
After a long slump, Manassero è restarted by winning the Copenhagen Challenge and the Italian Challenge Open last year, thus re-entering the circuit of the greatest. Now his big goal is the Paris Olympics.
