Jannik Sinner reassures on hip but has no illusions
Roland Garros: Jannik Sinner confident, but aware
Speaking at the media day a few days before the start of Roland Garros, Jannik Sinner, among other topics, commented on his physical condition and the factors that led to his decision to take part in the Paris Slam after his hip injury.
"The hip è I feel good and I am obviously happy to be here. My athletic condition is not è 100 percent, but I cannot work miracles. I am no longer worried about the hip. In the past few days I have felt no pain and I am confident that I can play good tennis, but right now it is not important to make it to the second week or to fight for the title, for now it is not in my thoughts" began the South Tyrolean.
"I am here becauseè è an important tournament, becauseè I am trying to learn year after year how to play better on clay. Then it could also be important in terms of the Olympics. It's always a Slam and I want to be a part of it if my body allows me. We decided to participate after the very positive results of the latest tests, we are working hard to find the best condition and the latest tests showed that the hip is holding up without problems. It is not è the Slam preparation I am used to, so I hope the first round can help me recover my match rhythm" added the world number two.
"I come to the club, I do my thing, I go. I know I could become number one in this tournament, but my job è meanwhile be ready on Monday. I have an opponent to face and I hope I can show good tennis. I think only about that, for all other matters there will beà time" concluded Jannik Sinner.
The South Tyrolean will make his debut on Monday, May 27 against U.S. world number 43 Christopher Eubanks.
