The coach of Italbasket officiated the 'long list' azzurra

As many as 30 people have been summoned by the technical commissioner of the Italian national basketball team, Gianmarco Pozzecco, for the activities of the summer that has just begun, which will culminate with participation in the Pre-Olympic Games and, if they pass the stage, in the Five Circles Tournament in Paris 2024.

Of the 30, the coach will choose eighteen on Thursday, the 6th, for an initial retreat that will take place in Trento from the 9th to the 13th: a period that will be useful to work on the group that will be in San Juan for the Pre-Olympic before players from Olimpia Milano and Virtus Bologna join them, while at the same time involving some young talents in the Azzurri orbit.

The actual treining camp ahead of the Pre-Olympic will take place instead in Folgaria from June 14 to 21. After that, the Azzurri will play a couple of friendly matches, on Sunday, June 23 in Trento against Georgia and on Tuesday, June 25 in Madrid against Spain coached by Sergio Scariolo.

On the 26th the flight to Miami and subsequent transfer to Puerto Rico, where Italy will face, in the first phase of the Pre-Olympic, Bahrain on July 2 and the home national team two days later. Should the Azzurri make it past the round, they will cross paths with one of the top two finishers in the group that includes Lithuania, Mexico and Ivory Coast for the semifinals: the subsequent final will put a spot for Paris up for grabs.
