VNL, Italvolley beats Netherlands and sees Paris

Men's Italvolley closes its second week in Ottawa, Canada in the best way possible with a clear success against the Netherlands. The Azzurri, in fact, won in three sets (25-18 25-15 25-21) against the Dutch, centering the seventh victory out of eight matches in the Nations League and bringing much closer the qualification to the Olympic Games in Paris.

With a not-at-top Nimir, 9 points today from the Dutch opposite player, second in the VNL top scorers list, Italy è was good at attacking from the start imposing its game and holding on defense. The best scorer of the challenge è Romanò with 18 points, with 3 personal walls of the 9 team total.

Three wins and one loss in the tie break, for a total of 10 points won, this is the blue balance of Pool 4 in Ottawa. It tops the VNL standings with a total of 7 wins and 21 points and the important increase in its own ranking situation that currently sees Italy, first of the non-qualified teams still in Paris (second overall behind Poland), 125.73 points ahead of Serbia (which will play the last match of week 2 in the Italian night), the first non-qualified team to Paris 2024, currently out of the four useful places assigned.

The blue group will move from Ottawa to Montreal in the afternoon and depart for Italy in the evening on a direct flight from Montreal to Rome. The return to Italy, after the long trip between Brazil and Canada, è scheduled for Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Rome Fiumicino airport.
