Paris 2024 Olympics, illness on the platform for Italian-Brazilian Nathalie Moellhausen
Nathalie Moellhausen, the 38-year-old Milanese epee player with Brazilian citizenship who competes for the South American country at the Olympics, today è took to the piste in Paris despite having a tumor in her coccyx region, and felt ill during the third bout of the bout which she then resumed losing 15-11 to Canadian Ruien Xiao.
After her test è she was hospitalized and is now being cared for by her national team doctors. Moellhausen, formerly a blue medalist and world champion for Brazil in 2019, found out in February that she had a benign tumor, but she did not want to give up her Olympic dream.
Struggling with severe back pain just before the start of the Games, she spent five days a Paris hospital (where she usually lives) where she was given doses of morphine and then was discharged in time to be able to participate in the Olympics. Next Monday, July 29, she will undergo surgery, as, moreover, has been planned for some time.
