Danilo case holds court at Juventus
Danilo is struggling this season: Thiago Motta prefers him to the other defenders on the roster, and so far the experienced Brazilian has collected just 148 minutes between Serie A and the Champions League, a meager haul considering the depth of the central player.
The former Manchester City player has a contract expiring in June: until a few months ago the extension seemed a formality, but now things have changed and the defender is thinking very carefully about his future. For now the Brazilian national team continues to give him confidence but if he continues to play it will be complicated for Dorival Junior to call him up again.
Growing up in the youth ranks of the América Futebol Clube, Danilo then played for Santos and è landed in Europe thanks to Porto, a club in which he played between 2011 and 2015. After two years at Real Madrid in 2017, Manchester City bought him for 30 million euros and the Brazilian è remained in England until 2019, when Juventus shelled out 37 million euros to bring him to Turin.
