Between Roberto Mancini and Saudi Arabia è over
The news had been in the air for a few days, but now it's official: Roberto Mancini is no longer the technical commissioner of Saudi Arabia. The former Italy coach's adventure on the bench of the Saudi national team comes to an end after a little more than a year.
This was announced by the Saudi Arabian Federation through an official note: "The Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Federation and the coach of the national team Roberto Mancini reach a joint agreement today that provides for the end of the contractual relationship".
The coach from Pesaro leaves Saudi Arabia after just 18 matches: 7 wins, 5 draws and 6 defeats the tally for him. Notably, it was the latest results that led to Macini's exoneration: the defeat to Japan and the draw with Bahrain complicated the green-and-white national team's path to participate in the upcoming World Cup.
Currently, Saudi Arabia è is in third place in Group C, with 5 points, tied with Australia, second, and Bahrain, fourth. It leads Japan with a share of 10, while tail-end è China, on 3 points with Indonesia, second-to-last.
