Varese collapses in Trieste in first post-Mannion game: "A disgrace"
Trieste’s clear-cut 107-81 victory over Varese in the game valid for the sixth day of the Serie A basketball championship. The Lombards, who got off to a bad start, found themselves down by 18 points already at halftime and were unable to get the match back on track.
"We were not ready to face Trieste. We had no will to win, this game è was a disgrace", said coach Herman Mandole.
Varese è in its first game without Nico Mannion, who moved to Olimpia: "I don't want to make excuses. We have 6 American players plus; Librizzi and we should compete the same way even without Mannion. I do not like excuses and I am not using any tonight" either.
In a different mood was Trieste coach Jamion Christian: "I wish you could have seen the energy that was in the locker room to understand how this could have happened. One of the reasons we have a very strong team è because our players have the ability to celebrate the successes of their teammates as if they were their own. This will allow us to continue to strive throughout this long season".
