Marco Odermatt wins in Val d'Isere
The third attempt è the good one for Marco Odermatt in giant slalom: after the victories of Alexander Steen Olsen in Solden and Thomas Tumler in Beaver Creek, comes in Val d'Isere the first giant slalom affirmation for the Swiss champion, last season’s dominator. To Austria the second and third places, respectively with Patrick Feurstein and Stefan Brennsteiner.
Odermatt especially dominated the first run, setting the best time, and controlled easily in the second leg, not taking any risks so much as to score the 21st partial time. Spectacular was the comeback of runner-up Feurstein, who was able to climb an impressive twenty-two positions in the second run.
Nice comeback also by the best of the Italians in the race, Luca De Aliprandini: fifteenth after the first run, the skier born in 1990 finished in sixth place. "I am happy with the attitude I put in the second run – he declareda end of the race -. In the first one I was not angry, but I thought too much about taking care of the line".
"In the second one – added De Aliprandini – I managed to always go on the attack, in very difficult conditions both for the visibility" and for the track that was a bit" ruined. A good second run, I’m happy. And’ important to have collected another top ten, the third in season".
Also among the top fifteen was another Italian, Giovanni Borsotti, who was also able to climb numerous positions, moving up from 27th place in the first heat to 13th overall. Moreù back Hannes Ziegerle, twenty-fourth, out in the first run Filippo Della Vite (36°), Simon Talacci (41°) and Alex Vinatzer, who fell in the final stretch of the first run.
