Milan and Paola Egonu do not discount Bergamo

Numia Vero Volley Milano does not give discounts to Bergamo in the tenth day of the return of Serie A1 Tigotà. In front of an Allianz Cloud almost sold out, Orro and her teammates returned to victory, overcoming the Bergamo lineup with a clear 3-0 (25-18; 25-16; 25-20) and thus regaining three important points in view of the ranking. A match that has always seen the meneghine leading, skilled in countering attacks and attempts to come back by the opponents. In the first set, Sylla won 11-11, which allowed Milan to take the lead and close 25-18. In the second fraction, after Bergamo&#39s resistance, it was Daalderop who gave the hosts the maximum advantage (19-8), fundamental to win the second set as well. The third fraction saw the great protagonist the newcomer Cazaute who, solid at the service and at the wall, led Milan to the close, put down then by Egonu. MVP of the challenge Nika Daalderop, author of 8 points, while top scorer of the evening Paola Egonu, with 17 wins. For Numia Vero Volley è already time to look to Europe: on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m., coach Lavarini’s girls will be on the court of the Opiquad Arena in Monza for the return match of the CEV Champions League Playoffs against the German SSC Palmberg Schwerin.

THE MATCH
For the confrontation with Bergamo, coach Lavarini confirms his choices by fielding Orro-Egonu in diagonal, Sylla and Daalderop as slappers, Danesi-Kurtagic pair in the center and Gelin in the role of libero.

FIRST SET
Balanced start of the match until the break for Numia Vero Volleyball thanks to Egonu’s winner and Sylla’s ace (4-2). Bergamo tries to stay in the slipstream and with Manfredini finds parity at 6-6. Orro’s monster block puts Milan back ahead by +2 (8-6); the Bergamasque però come on every ball, lead 9-9 and, after the time-out for coach Lavarini, find the overtake (9-11). Sylla brings back the balance and again change to the lead, with Numia this time putting a +3 margin (14-11) and suspension for coach Parisi. On the return to the court, Milan shows more decision and thus continues its run; on 17-12 comes another 30&quot request for the Bergamo bench, which, however, does not interrupt the pace of the hosts. Danesi, Kurtagic and then Daaldeerop’s wall lead Vero Volleyball to 22-15. Bergamo recovers three points, but with Daalderop again comes set point (24-18). Milan won at the first opportunity the partial 25-18.

SECOND SET
After a study phase, comes the break for Milan on 6-4; Bergamo does not give up and brings parity back on 7-7. Egonu’s diagonal doesn’t forgive the opponents and records 10-7 for Numia, forcing coach Parisi to recall his girls. With Sylla and Egonu, Milan attempts a new stretch, while Danesi’s wall scores 14-7 and new time-out called by Bergamo. Daalderop scores twice in a row and marks the maximum advantage for the hosts: +11 and 19-8. Entry on the court of the Allianz Cloud for Pietrini, with Milan that – despite the attempts of the opponents – always maintains an eleven-length lead (22-11). Another change for coach Lavarini: in goes Smrek, who immediately makes her mark with the 24-13 monster block. Bergamo cancels the first three set points, but Pietrini puts her signature on the second partial: 25-16 and 2-0.

THIRD SET
Aggressive start for Milan that leads 3-0, with Cazaute’s service turn marking a further stretch (6-1). After the time-out, Bergamo regains the right energy for -1 (9-8) and coach Lavarini calls back his girls. On the return to the court, the hosts do not contain their opponents and on 11-11 it is back to even. Cazaute’s winning double puts the margin back (13-11), while Daalderop’s monster block on 16-12 lights up the entire Allianz Cloud. Milan runs ahead again, but Bergamo&#39s reaction is not delayed and 19-17. First a wall and then a winner by Cazaute make it 23-19, while Bergamo's hitting error gives Milan match point (24-20). It's Egonu’s wall that closes the set at 25-20 and the match.

POST-PARTIAL STATEMENTS
Helena Cazaute, setter Numia Vero Volley Milano: "Today we were all good; it was not easy to win the three points becauseè Bergamo è a team that defends a lot, but we were very patient on every exchange. It was important to get a full haul since Novara snatched a point against Conegliano; we kept a safe distance on the Piedmontese".
