Juan Carlos Ferrero pushes Carlos Alcaraz to beat Jannik Sinner

Juan Carlos Ferrero, coach of Carlos Alcaraz, spoke about his client, who qualified for the semifinals of Roland Garros: “When he plays forward, with courage, without fear, without pressure, he is exceptional. A player with potential that we haven’t seen yet. You cannot talk about perfection because nobody is perfect but he is approaching a level rarely seen on the circuit: the difficult thing is to demonstrate that level in every match. You have to look at other aspects as well: the pressures, the tensions, the fears, the difficulties, the type of opponent, the tournament you want to win more than another”.
“Carlos knows he has to work on consistency, but it is hard to have it when you hit the ball so hard. Against Paul, he hit everything and everything went in, but one day he will make a few more mistakes and not be as brilliant. We want him to play forward, even on clay. But there are days when, because of the type of player, you can’t play so forward. Then we will say he didn’t play as brilliantly, but maybe a different approach was needed.”
Chapter Sinner: “They feed off each other, but especially when they play against each other. We already saw this in the Rome final, where Carlos raised his level. Jannik sometimes plays at a stratospheric level, Carlos notices and works to raise his level even further. Jannik is very consistent and this helps Carlos to keep working hard to beat him.”
“The serve is something that gives you confidence, it is something we have to constantly improve and evolve little by little. The same goes for the other shots, because sometimes the forehand turns a little too much and on the backhand sometimes it lacks a little bit of height in the responses,” he concluded.
