Jannik Sinner gets off on the right foot in the semifinals at Roland Garros. The world number one, opposing Novak Djokovic, number 6 in the ranking and seeding, won the first set 6-4 after 46 minutes of play.

Slightly contracted start for the South Tyrolean, who committed four consecutive errors in the opening game. The Italian, however, redeemed himself on serve, held to zero with plenty of aces. After two more games in which he trails on serve, the first break point of the match comes in the fifth game and Sinner scores (3-2).

The seeding leader confirms the break lead at zero (4-2) and has a chance to repeat it and close out the set in the seventh game but Djokovic nullifies two break points like a champion and keeps himself alive (3-4).

Sinner, however, conceded crumbs on serve: in the eighth game he went down 0-30 but strung together four consecutive points, and in the tenth game he closed to nil and made the first partial his own with a winning backhand longline.
