Milan, new midfield takes shape: Xhaka opens to transfer

Acc Milan is working hard in the market to deliver Massimiliano Allegri an experienced and quality midfield. After the now finalized deal with Luka Modric, the Rossoneri are now pushing to also secure Granit Xhaka, director and leader of Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Arsenal captain, currently under contract with the German champions until 2028, has given his consent to a move to Italy. Xhaka, in fact, has been favorably impressed by the interest shown by Milan and the project outlined by the new management, which sees in him one of the pivots on which to rebuild the Rossoneri midfield. According to reports, contacts between his entourage and the Milan management are constant, and new talks with Bayer Leverkusen are expected in the coming days to define the economic details of the operation.
In the meantime, only the end of the Club World Cup is awaited for Luka Modric before proceeding with medical examinations and signing the one-year contract, with option, from about 2.5-3 million euros per season plus bonuses. The 39-year-old Croatian will bring a wealth of international experience and will be a reference point for younger players both on the pitch and in the locker room.
Accordingly, Milan’s goal is clear: to put two leaders like Modric and Xhaka side by side to provide balance and personality to a department that in recent seasons has often shown limits in continuity and maturity at key moments. However, the knot linked to the cost of Xhaka’s player card remains to be unraveled, considering also the recent heavy disposals of Leverkusen, already orphaned of Xabi Alonso and several of its prized pieces.
The next 48 hours will be decisive. We will see if Milan will succeed in bringing in a double stroke of absolute depth, which would change the face of the Rossoneri midfield for next season.
