The big favorite of the eve against one of the most beautiful surprises of these Internazionali d’Italia: Jannik Sinner and Andrea Pellegrino are set to give life to an important tricolor derby at the Internazionali d’Italia, which puts at stake the qualification to the quarterfinals. Sinner comes from successes against Sebastian Ofner and Alexei Popyrin, Pellegrino, on the other hand, beat Hugo Gaston and Martin Landaluce in the qualifiers, before beating Luca Nardi, overcoming by retirement Arhur Fils and defeating Frances Tiafoe in the main draw.

The match, as announced by the organizers of the Masters 1000 on the clay at the Foro Italico, will be played on the Central Court no earlier than 3 p.m. The exact time will depend on the previous matches on the same court, with the other men’s eighth between Lorenzo Musetti and Casper Ruud starting at 11 a.m. and the women’s fourth between Sorana Cirstea and Jelena Ostapenko kicking off no earlier than 1 p.m. instead.

Tuesday’s will be the first head-to-head between Jannik Sinner and Andrea Pellegrino on the major circuit: however, the South Tyrolean and the Bisceglie man have played each other once before, back in 2019, in the final of the ITF tournament in Santa Margherita di Pula, with Sinner’s clear victory 6-1, 6-1. The one in Sardinia was the third of five tournaments won by Sinner in 2019, the year his name rose to prominence on the junior circuit.

The match between Sinner and Pellegrino will be visible on TV, free-to-air, on Tv8, which will also stream it on its official website. Sky subscribers will also be able to watch the match on the satellite channels of the broadcaster’s sports bouquet, if included in their subscription, as well as streaming on Now.
