Marco Ragini starts again in Mongolia: he is the new technical commissioner

Marco Ragini is starting again in Mongolia. The 58-year-old technician from San Marino, who has been the protagonist of a fruitful international career for many years, has been chosen as the new technical commissioner of the Asian national team and will lead the first training session on May 25 ahead of the challenge against Singapore on May 31. In addition to his assignment on the senior national team, Ragini will also serve as technical director of the entire representative sector, starting with the Under-17s, while also taking care of the training of coaches in courses organized by the local federation.
For him it is a return to a country he has already met in the past. In fact, eight years ago he had coached Ulaanbaatar, a club from the capital that narrowly avoided relegation the previous season. With the arrival of the San Marino coach, the team completely changed its face, coming close to the national title and finishing just one point from the top. A job that also contributed to the growth of local soccer: seven of the club’s players won a call-up to the national team and even two friendly wins came just against the Mongolian selection.
His experiences around the world, from Slovakia to Portugal, via Malaysia and, more recently, Tajikistan, earned him the nickname “Marco Polo,” which came about after an article published by a major Asian newspaper credited him with helping to transform the country’s football mentality.
After the federation’s unsuccessful experience with Japan’s Jfa, Mongolia thus decided to rely again on Ragini, a coach who has worked in as many as 13 different nations during his career. A new adventure accepted with enthusiasm, driven by a passion for soccer and a desire to continue to discover the world through the sport.
