Total revolution at Milan after the disastrous end to the season that cost the Rossoneri club the Champions League. In a terse and frosty official statement, the Milanese club announced the immediate dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri and three senior executives of the Diavolo, namely CEO Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and technical director Geoffrey Moncada. Instead, RedBird’s adviser Zlatan Ibrahimovic remained in place, who together with president Gerry Cardinale will choose the next coach and executives, kicking off the new Rossoneri course.

“After the disappointment of last season, the mandate defined by the ownership for the club was clear: to return to the Champions League and build the foundations to win and remain with continuity at the top of Serie A,” thus begins Milan’s statement.

“For most of the season we remained in the top two positions in the league, with a concrete possibility of competing for the Scudetto. The end of the season, however, was well below the level shown up to that point, and last night’s disappointing defeat turned this season into an unequivocal failure.”

“It is now time for change and a profound reorganization of the Club’s sports area. With immediate effect, the tenure at AC Milan of CEO Giorgio Furlani, Sporting Director Igli Tare, Head Coach Massimiliano Allegri and Technical Director Geoffrey Moncada comes to an end. We would like to thank each of them for the work they have done and the dedication they have shown during their tenure at the Club.”

“Further announcements regarding new appointments will be communicated as soon as they are finalized, with the goal of having a structure in place for next season.”
